The Perfect Pair

This weekend Hector and I enriched ourselves with General Conference and German Pancakes - a perfect pair for a perfect morning.

German Pancakes & Buttermilk Syrup

6 eggs
1 C milk
1 C flour
1/2 Tsp salt
2 Tbs butter

Combine eggs, milk, flour and salt; blend until smooth. Pour melted butter into an ungreased 9-in. x 13-in. pan; add batter. Bake, uncovered at 400 for 20 minutes.

Meanwhile, get the buttermilk syrup going.

1 1/2 C sugar
3/4 C buttermilk
1/2 C butter
2 Tbs corn syrup
1 Tsp baking soda
2 Tsp vanilla extract

Combine first five ingredients; bring to a boil. Boil for 7 minutes. Remove from heat; stir in vanilla. Dust pancake with powdered sugar; serve immediately with syrup. Also amazing with fresh fruit served on top.

PS, do your self you a favor and don't worry about the calories or fat in this baby... just indulge this once.
