This year Hector and I got to celebrate our first Christmas together as husband and wife. Thanks to my dear parents, we were lucky enough to spend Christmas in paradise. Hector and I had a chance to explore the Yucatan peninsula for a few days before my family arrived.
We enjoyed beachside service in Cancun, street tacos galore at night in Cozumel and shopping at the local flea markets in Playa Del Carmen.
When my family arrived, we jumped into the rental van and headed south. After various pit stops, a Walmart run, speed bumps, potholes and a run in with a police officer, we arrived in the sleepy town of Xcalak.
Xcalak is an quaint town on the southern tip of the Yucatan peninsula. With more stray dogs than humans in this small town, we had all the privacy in the world. We spent our days kayaking, snorkeling, fishing, diving, eating and naming the local dogs ( Lucy, Pete, Samwise and Patches).
We also enjoyed a day trip to San Pedro, Belize, spent Christmas day exploring Mayan ruins and late night card games. Hector and I enjoyed every second of the trip and are already dreaming of our next vacation to come - wherever it may be.
More details and photos to come...
