Hector requested he go fishing with my dad at least once while we're out there. Now that, my friends, is what we call a Christmas miracle. Hector has left behind his city slicker ways and is well on his way to becoming an outdoor enthusiast (minus the wardrobe, but I am okay with that)!
I'm excited to introduce Hector to some of my family's Christmas traditions this year. The annual Christmas Eve fish fry, Christmas morning German pancakes, and my mom's famous Filet Mignon for dinner. Wait, did all of those traditions just include food? Now to the non food traditions...driving around the neighborhood and looking at Christmas lights, my mom attempting to get us to stand around the piano and sing Christmas carols (that one never really caught on), opening up stockings in the middle of the night, reading about Christ's birth from the Bible while the kids act it out, and my mom singing "O Holy Night" during the Christmas program at church - she steals the show every year!
On a more serious note, it is often easy to forget about the true meaning of Christmas. "The Christmas season is a time to celebrate the priceless gift of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He is the Son of God, the Redeemer of all mankind, the King of kings, the Prince of Peace, and our joy and salvation.
